Where could you go to hide from God?
Behind a tree? Across the ocean? Up into the sky? Into the darkest place you can imagine?
Nowhere! God is there.
This Psalm 139 lesson helps children discover that powerful truth through games, books, coloring activities, Bible study, movement, and plenty of hide-and-seek fun!
Children learn from Psalm 139:7–12 that God knows where they are no matter where they go. The lesson also connects the Psalm to the story of Jonah, who tried to run away from God but quickly discovered that even in the middle of the sea, God knew exactly where he was.
Keep Children Learning and Moving!
Younger children can roll a toy car around the circle while naming places where God is with them, act out a Psalm 139 rhyme, make an Itty Bitty Book, sing a movement song, color pictures, and play hide-and-seek games.
Older children can dig deeper into Scripture, look up Bible verses about God’s presence, make their own Psalm 139 book, and play a more challenging memory version of “If I Go ______, God Is There.”
The lesson also includes a fun interactive activity sheet where children can fold the hands over the eyes of an image of a child as though he is playing hide-and-seek.

5. Interactive Hide-and-Seek Activity Sheet

Come and play “Hide and Seek”
Close your eyes, and don’t you speak
You can hide if you sneak,
But not from God because he always peeks!
6. Interactive Bible Games to Review the Lesson
- Verse Search – Older children look up related Bible verses
- Paper Hide-and-Seek Game – Children hide pictures of themselves for the seeker to find
- “If I Go ______, God Is There” Game – Memory Game
- Action Rhyme – Younger children perform movements to an action rhyme
7. “You Are With Me Everywhere song sung to the tune of “London Bridges”
Two adults stand facing each other, holding hands with their arms raised to form a bridge. As everyone sings the song, the children take turns walking under the bridge and circling around to go through again. When the last phrase of the song is sung, the adults lower their arms to gently “capture” the child passing underneath.

The child who is caught names one place or situation where God is with him or her, such as at home, at school, at church, or when they are afraid. Then continue playing until every child has had a turn.
One lesson with lots of choices—so you can pick the activities that work best for your children and the time you have available.
