Mother Otter and Pup Paper Plate Craft

Make learning about sea otters more memorable with this fun mother-and-baby paper plate craft! Children assemble the otters from paper plates and paper, creating a handy pouch in the mother otter’s belly where they can store the baby otter, sea otter facts, or a story they have written.

This printable craft works especially well with ocean, sea life, and animal studies. After learning about sea otters, children can study photographs and color their otters to resemble real animals, then add drawings of foods or objects sea otters might hold in their paws.

The finished craft also makes a great science and writing activity. Children can write interesting facts about sea otters and tuck them inside the pouch, or use their otters for imaginative play before writing a story that includes some of the facts they learned.

A creative way to combine science, art, writing, and hands-on learning in one engaging STEAM activity.
